Desafios mentais, físicos, ambientais e financeiros dos estudantes: os desafios e o perfil demográfico afetam a esperança percebida pelos estudantes?

Resumo

Estudar em uma universidade é uma das etapas mais difíceis no desenvolvimento profissional e pessoal de um indivíduo. Durante esta etapa, o indivíduo vivencia uma miríade de desafios, incluindo desafios ambientais, restrições financeiras, problemas mentais e estresse físico. O estudo é conduzido para determinar os desafios físicos, mentais, financeiros e ambientais dos alunos na universidade. A população do estudo foi de 1.199 alunos universitários de uma instituição de ensino superior das Filipinas. O questionário de perfil demográfico foi inicialmente utilizado. Depois disso, os entrevistados foram solicitados a identificar seus desafios usando um questionário de pesquisa desenvolvido pelo pesquisador. O questionário de desesperança usado no estudo foi extraído de um compêndio padronizado de ferramentas de avaliação. Os perfis dos entrevistados mostram que a maioria era do sexo feminino e não era beneficiária do Programa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino (4Ps). A maioria era de estudantes em tempo integral e muitos deles vinham de uma família com renda mensal inferior a P12.082,00. Os alunos apresentaram altos níveis de desafios físicos e exaustão na escola, eram moderadamente desafiados mentalmente e tinham níveis moderados de desafios financeiros e ambientais. Eles têm um nível moderado de desafios financeiros e um nível moderado de desafios ambientais. O Tau-B de Kendall não indicou nenhuma relação entre o perfil dos entrevistados e os desafios que eles vivenciaram. Perfil dos alunos (valor de p) em termos de sexo, 4Ps, situação de emprego e renda financeira mensal, respectivamente para os seguintes desafios vivenciados: Físico = 0,239; 0,749; 0,462; 0,992, respectivamente; Mental = 0,878; 0,800; 0,680; 0,576, respectivamente; Financeiro = 0,519; 0,323; 0,166; 0,067, respectivamente; e Ambiental = 0,776; 0,492; 0,661; 0,449, respectivamente. Os resultados do questionário de desesperança indicam que a maioria dos alunos manifestou um nível moderado de desesperança. Pode-se concluir que os desafios físicos, mentais, ambientais e financeiros vivenciados pelos alunos não têm relação com seu status sociodemográfico, mas esses desafios afetaram moderadamente sua esperança. Os dados deste estudo atual sugeriram a necessidade de uma intervenção para facilitar as lutas dos alunos na academia e ajudá-los a se esforçar para concluir o curso escolhido.
